JS General Construction Inc. was started in 1990 by Jim Szewczak and incorporated in January of 2004. Jim has over 20 years construction experience in the Bay Area and is a licensed general contractor (License 587617). We carry general liability and workers comp insurance. Over the years Jim has developed knowledge and expertise that he applies to every project. His crew are instructed and trained on the most suitable methods for working with tools and materials to achieve the highest quality in their results.

Your choice of a contractor will ultimately determine the success of, and your satisfaction with, your deck. You can increase your chances of having a successful project by considering all aspects of the project and partnering with the contractor that will provide the best all around service available, above and beyond basic construction skills

How we operate
We build our decks with our own crews and this gives us the ability to better manage the quality, schedules and costs.

How we approach each project
We believe our customers are interested in a deck built of quality materials and workmanship. They want it built quickly, with as little disruption as possible and at a fair price. We strive to provide this on every job. We care that our customers are happy with the result.

Sometimes, after the project has started, our customers are inspired to add or change something. We are open to comments and feedback and we are flexible in accepting and implementing changes.

We are a full service contractor who specializes in decking
We have a general knowledge of all the building trades (including concrete, stonework, landscaping, and remodels), so if the scope of work extends beyond the deck we will be able to accommodate your needs.

Design services
Whether working with your architect or directly with you, we offer full design services and the skills to accommodate your design needs.

Project Schedules
We state the project schedule for the job in days; we put that in our contract and are committed to staying on the job until it is successfully completed. Daily work schedules are normally 8:00 am to 4:30 pm but we establish each schedule with room for flexibility to accommodate our customer’s needs.

Support during the project
A crew foreman is available on every job to address questions or issues that may arise during the project. If you should require additional assistance, you can reach Jim on his cell phone or contact the office for customer service and support.

Certifications
In addition to TREX certification we have an overall knowledge about all the products we install. We take pride in the innovative techniques we have developed for building breathtaking decks.
